The skills of the Shaman
The three talent trees of the Shaman, Elemental, Enhancement and Restoration, contain many different active skills. Elemental Shamans are able to learn Elemental Mastery, Totem of Wrath and Thunderstorm. Elemental Mastery allows the Elemental Shaman to turn his next offensive spell into an instant cast spell and increases his offensive spell crit chance by 15%. This effect can be used to increase the Shaman's burst dps, especially in conjunction with Bloodlust or Heroism. Totem of Wrath replaces the Shaman's Flametongue Totem, increasing the spellpower of anyone under its effect while making any enemy in its radius more vulnerable to critical hits. Thunderstorm can be used to restore the Shaman's mana. It will also deal damage to any enemy in the vicinity while knocking them back.
The skills of the Enhancement Shaman focus on dealing damage in melee range. Storm Strike will attack the target with both of the Shaman's weapons at once while Lava Lash uses the off-hand Weapon to deal fire damage to the enemy. Shamanistic Rage allows the Enhancement Shaman to restore part of his mana while reducing his incoming damage. Feral Spirit calls two Spirit Wolves to the Shaman's aid, healing him for any damage the wolves do.
The Restoration Shaman is able to learn several new skills via talents. Tidal Force increases his chance to score a critical heal by up to 60% for up to three spells while Nature's Swiftness makes the next healing spell instant cast. The Mana Tide Totem replaces any active water totem and restores 30% of the party's mana over the next 12 seconds. Earth Shield allows the Restoration Shaman to place a protective shield on a friendly target, most often the current tank. Whenever that target takes damage the shield will heal him for a small amount. The Cleanse Spirit skill combines several of the Shaman's cleansing abilities into one spell. Riptide finally is an instant cast healing spell that attaches a heal over time buff to the target.
